Poland on Google Maps

Google Maps now features satellite photos of the whole wide world, which means that Poland is also there! And on top of that some of the bigger cities (like Kraków, Warszawa, Gdańsk) have pictures available at the maximum zoom level (which means they are extremely detailed). At this rate Google Maps will dominate all geo/mapping applications in two years tops.

Here are some of my most important places:

Damn, this is fun! I have notified all of my friends showing them various places and all of them were like “wow… this is great”. In fact, it’s more than that. It’s AWESOME.

As usual, Marek Futrega spotted it first.

  1. Poland was (is?) mostly an agricultural country, that’s why it’s so green (especially eastern parts).

You, on the other hand, live in the very far end of the world :)

  2. Perfect neighbourhood :)
    Forests, lakes, Baltic…

ehhh… Now I live Krakow and there is nothing but forests… tiny forests… :/
    No lakes.
Fortunately it’s close to my beloved Bieszczady mountain district ;)

  3. Apparently you can’t have everything. No matter how hard you try. As for those lakes near Gdańsk, unfortunately most of them are polluted. You have to drive at least 40KM outside of the city to experience really nice ones.
