Fucking brilliant! Denys Arcand has been my hero for a long time now and even though this is not the best out of the trilogy it still is simply fucking brilliant!
Much, much too complicated. And way too quick to actually follow it. Only after reading the imdb forums I've realized what this movie was about. Strangely enough, the director Theo Van Gogh has been murdered for similar reasons that Pim Fortuym (Dutch politician, whose murder is the baseline of this movie) was.
Great documentary about Formula 1. How the sport evolved, how the safety came into play (way too late and too many great F1 heroes had to die for that to happen).
Excellent! Although I must say that it was very uneasy to watch it. Certainly not for the faint hearted. Out of all pictures that were basically a one-(trapped)-man-show, this is one of the best.
Excellent historic epic. Sure, it was cheesy at moments, and effects left a lot to be desired, but the political background, the Piłsudski character, the depiction of historical events were top notch. I loved to learn a little bit more about those times.
It's a really great series, I give it that. The intrigue, the world created, all is top notch. The only gripe I have is with too many unanswered questions (who survived, who were those man landing on the beach, what is going on with the nuclear arsenal and so on...) as I don't think there's going to be a second season.
Uhm, so-so. Tries way too hard to be funny and in effect most of the time it's not funny. Fortunately there are some funny moments, so it's not all wasted. But it's not a good movie either.
Decent French crime/drama. And even though it's filled with clichés from start till the end, it's a good watch. Oh and even despite the improbability of driving a bike like that with one arm paralyzed.
I simply cannot believe I go on and on and watch those silly, no, no silly, just plainly stupid hollywood romantic comedies. One, okey, two, three tops! funny moments. And that's all. Everything else? Ridiculously bad. In other words - total crap.
There's something in those high-school movies. Especially if they're not of American descent. This one has goot too much of it, much too much. Very disturbing. Similar to Elephant, in way, only goes inside characters. Deep.
A Sci-Fi of epic proportions. One I have been longing for oh for so long time. Too long. Too long. "Come. We cannot save ourselves. I will help you conquer this world" had me collecting my jaw from the floor.
Just another Bollywood fairytale for grownups. Sure, it's better than most others, but it's still full of those unbelievable situations/stories created solely that the main protagonist can "show off". Everything is just too good/too beautiful/too improbable. But the emotions are there and that's the most important thing.
- What is your greatest ambition? - To become immortal... and then die. A movie that defined pop culture (and how movies would be made) for the times to come. Now, 50 years later, it looses much of its appeal to become only a lesson in history of filmmaking. A valuable lesson, though.
Good, although very long and full of intellectual talk, that you really need to concentrate your attention on. Perhaps a little bit disappointing as the underlying story is, well, simple.
Wow. I feel like I've watched at least a dozen films just like it (Spike Lee, thank you imdb), yet somehow this one felt quite different. Maybe because most of it has actually happend? I'm not sure. Funny thing is I got tired of the chaotic story and shaky camera movements quite quickly. And the story felt so cliche at first. Still I became entangled in it basically before the first half went by. And the ending gave at least 2 stars more to the rating. Great soundtrack did its job too.
Not that bad as imdb rating would make you think. I did really enjoy it. You just have to treat it with one eye closed, thinking it's some kind of fairy-tale.
Wow, just wow. It was so totally unexpected! I prolongeed watching it for so long and now I wish I had seen it sooner! It was supposed to be some moderately good intellectual drama, but I got an extremely engaging movie full of life and passion. It really is Beethoven's fault!
Very good, albiet a little bit unrewarding in the end. I expected joy and happiness, but was given a hard kick in the lower back. Ah, life dissapointments. That's how this movie is. Real as it can be.
Giving up your autonomy when building your family can have dire consequences... This movie is so sad that I could really enjoy it as I was trying to detach emotionally as much as I could from it.
Great study of what war causes to humanity, although sometimes I found it hard to identify with the main character knowing what the Germans did in WW2.
Not as bad as the reviews or ratings would make you believe. Sure, the dialogs are cheesy, and super-serious Will Smith is ridiculous, but the story, the tension and oh, the visuals, all are there. So it's still a decent watch.
Chan-wook Park wants to be David Mamet. He mostly succeeds too. Good movie, which keeps you on its toes, with lots of visual beauty. Not a masterpiece, though, as his older works.
One of THE BEST action flicks in recent years. Simply put - it's awesome! Awesome acting, awesome shooting, awesome fist fights and the most awesome of them all - knife fights! I wonder how it is so that when in a Hollywood action movie the protagonist solely by himself kills 20 men, it simply looks ridiculous (think Sylvester Stallone/Jason Statham), but when the same happens in a South Korean movie (think this flick or Chan-wook Park's works), it looks convincing and even realistic - but first and foremost awesome! This movie was so good, that even the oh-just-a-little too cheesy ending did not ruin it even by one little bit.
Decent. Goood for a well worn subject, meaning that that other bee movie – that documentary that got the Oscar or was close to getting one – was better.
Ah the Japanese with their weird problems, weird behavior and weird movies. Did not really liked it. Some actions by main characters were too absurd to be believable by me, a European viewer.
So-so. Sure, power corrupts and ultimate power currupts ultimately, up to a point your wife commits suicide or you need to kill her. It just did not convince me.
An intimate look into Lyndon Johnson's US presidency and the man himself, someone very hungry for power, but also with the right political agenda, both about civil rights and more social privileges. Great watch.
The concept, the noir detective, the cyberpunk feel, first 8 episodes, all were exceptionally good. Then they were slightly ruined by the absurdity of the main antagonist and the general stupidity of various scenes/dialogues/plots. Still a great show, not far from perfect.
Certainly not my type of movie. "Art", that's how they're called. Been a while since I've since one of such and it will certainly be a little while till I see the next one.
Decent documentary. Sure there is a global warming. Sure it causes global problems. But are human CO2 emissions solely responsible for this? Sorry, but I'm still not convinced.
Captivating, almost surreal yet so real at the same time. And so tragic. So surprising. Gangster/mafia movie almost without shooting. Without action. Without chases.
Been a long time since a movie had such a strong emotional response in me. I was actually terrified through the second half. Mind you, it was not by those strange animals...
Excellent! Had a really great time watching the answer to the question of "Who Shakespear really was". Even though it's only a hypothesis, it's a really good one!
Decent. Not great, but quite good. While I enjoyed the older happily married couple and their relationships with friends and other family members, the whole movie missed a grand concept. There was hardly any conclusion. Just another year in life.
I seriously need to stop watching this Marvel crap. It's beyond ridiculous now. The only good thing in this movie is the ant/dog joke, which makes me think they were inspired by our own Wardęga's "spider dog".
Excellent! Love those financial thriller/dramas. Richard Gere's performance was top-notch, it's like this role has been written especially for him. Loved it.
This one took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting an animated series based off of a game to be that good, both in terms of visuals and the story. Not to mention the dialogues and awesome action sequences. I knew nothing and still don't know much about the League of Legends game itself, but one does not really need to know much to enjoy this series. Highly recommended.
War. Only this time it's 100 per cent authentic. Like in for real. This means that most of the time nothing happens - we are as much bored as the actual soldiers - but when the action comes, it comes in full.
OMFG. One of the best Sci-fi movies ever. Denis Villeneuve is now my favourite director of all times. And I have just realized that I had watch almost all of his full-length movies. Starting from Maelstrom, a movie I watched some odd 15 years ago and still remember it and the impact it had on me.
I would give Arrival 11 if I only could.
Way too exaggerated, although the story is quite believable. The main character too. The rapist too. Only all other characters are drawn with a way too thick pencil. Exaggerated, that's the right word.
Totally absurd. And absurdly brutal - on the verge of being absurdly funny. Just absurd beyond belief. And even though almost everyone has been killed, they're still making a sequel.
Wow, what a crap! There were maybe two good jokes out there out of hundred thrown my way. Apart from that the story was just plainly stupid. The dialogs cringe worthy. Eh.
What a mess. Nothing makes sense. Every bad movie franchise must resort to time travel when it cannot think of anything smarter. And with that, the story becomes an incoherent mess.
